  Purpose:

  Provincial fisheries crews will be out on Ontario's lakes this summer, monitoring lake health and fish populations, and checking for invasive species. If you're on a lake that is being monitored and see Ministry of Natural Resources buoys, please don't lift the nets or buoys, and avoid recreational activities between and around the buoys. All nets will be clearly marked. Information gathered through the surveys will be used to help make decisions about managing fisheries, including setting seasons and size limits for anglers.

  Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources: OBM Contour (Contour): Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources (OMNR) Waterbody, Atlas. Contour is available through the Land Information Ontario Warehouse. For more information, please refer to the Contour metadata record.

  Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources: Water Feature Area: The Water Feature Area dataset was used to identify all lakes, reservoirs and double-lined rivers in the province. In cases where water features were assigned elevations photogrammetrically during the OBM program, an OBM Spot height was associated with each feature. By spatially relating the OBM Spot Height dataset with lake polygons, consistent lake elevations were identified. These lake elevations were then used to construct a lake contour dataset which was integrated into the DEM for additional elevation information. Water Feature Area data was collected through the OBM program and updated between 01/01/1976 to 01/01/2002. Data collected from 01/01/1996 to 01/01/2002. Water Feature Areas are polygon vectors representing water features (lakes, reservoirs, double-lined rivers and wetlands). This derived class has been created to increase drawing performance. It is a spatial consolidation of geographic units, belonging to the Water Area, Permanent data type within a specific spatial extent, into one object.
